Around a couple of weeks back I came to know about this tiny piece of software, since it is a Freeware I didn't hesitate to install it on my PC - actually I got this tiny fellow from Digit Magazine Freeware DVD, and that's the history, This Software is not huge and will even run in a PC with 128 MB of RAM.  And  the question lies here what's the need of an secondary software as Windows Fearture  ' Add or Remove Programs ' under its Control Panel.  Well I have also thought of it until I used this Software on my Desktop.  Before explaining it's feature let me say the Configuration I had, It's a Intel C2D 2.20 Ghz with 512 MB of DDR2 RAM with Intel Integrated graphics solution.  This means I have tested this software under a Basic Home PC.

Features :

- Removes Unwanted Registry Entry left over by the software after Uninstall.
- Faster than Windows Add or Remove Build-in Program.
- Search for an Installed Program.
- Hunter Mode.
- Changing Views as in Explorer.

Performance :

To check the performance of the Software I compared it with Windows Build-in Add or Remove Programs and Revo Uninstaller, as I have briefed in the Features Pane Windows Uninstaller doesn't seems to detect the left over entries in the Registry, where as Revo does it with out pain, this can be a very useful and welcome feature for an secondary Uninstaller.  There is also an Auto-Update feature that allows you to update the software.  I think this may update the software for it's newer features and fix any bugs if any ( I haven't tested this feature, due to my slow internet connection, bad than a dial-up speed ).  And there is yet another feature known as Hunter Mode which allows you to choose a program to uninstall in real times.  Consider you have Foxit Reader installed on your PC you can uninstall it simply by toggling to Hunter Mode and click on the desktop icon and that's it the end of the software.  So say good bye, to Windows Installer and switch to Revo Installer.

Additional Tools in Revo Uninstaller :

- Delete File which cannot to Removed Later.
- Free Up disk space by removing unwanted files.
- Windows Tool Manager.
- Auto Start Manager.

Works with :

- Windows Vista ( All Versions )
- Windows XP ( All Versions )
- Windows 2003 Server
- Windows 2000

Description: VolumeTouch gives quick control over your PC’s volume by using a combination of hotkeys and the mouse or arrow keys.

The first thing I will say about this program is that, aside from performing a very useful function, it scores high marks in terms of the user experience it provides. Once you start experimenting with the combination of hotkey/mouse controls for volume you will find that these are very intuitive and well conceived.

The program also uses a system tray icon to display volume levels as a bar gauge or a percentage numeric, which also turned out to be a much more useful that I would have initially thought. More notes on this program:

  • How it works: you can either control the volume with the mouse scroll wheel, through your mouse’s vertical or horizontal movements (but you’ll have to pick one method). Once you specify which method you like in the settings, you can press the default hotkey (CTRL+Shift) and move the scroll wheel up and down (or the mouse up and down, or left and right) in order to control the volume. If you prefer you can use the UP/DOWN arrow keys instead, and CTRL+Shift+0 will mute/unmute.
  • Skins: the VolumeTouch icon in the system tray functions as a volume gauge that displays the volume level. Five "skins" are included, including my favorite "percent" which displays the volume as a percentage (See screenshot). You might want to remove the Windows native volume icon from the system tray (right click on it, click adjust audio properties, then uncheck "place volume icon in the taskbar").
  • Memory consumption: a rather large 12-15 megs. However, this is probably inflated because this program requires Microsoft .NET framework and, in my experience, real memory consumption for .NET framework apps is difficult to determine for sure.
  • Reasons to use Volumouse: offers up to five different user-defined hotkey-activated functions. Highly customizable: can control different channels and specific volume components rather than the general volume. Takes up only 3 megs of memory, and does not require .NET framework.
  • The verdict: overall this is a great program and very intuitive to use. If you are sensitive to .NET and/or memory consumption you might want to try Volumouse instead; however when it comes to simplicity of design and providing a good user experience VolumeTouch definitely delivers.

Windows Vista can be considered as the first Microsoft operating system that requires specific requirements to run. Unlike its predecessor, Vista users generally need a high spec computer to run Vista smoothly. While running Windows Vista, users should have noticed Vista actually takes up a lot of resources. Due to this, it is good to remove those unwanted or rubbish components in order to speed up the Operating System. vLite is a useful tool designed particularly for users to remove the unnecessary or unwanted Windows Vista components and thus help to speed up the operating system. Besides, it can also create the bootable ISO and apply the tweaks directly.

vLite is a free Vista compatible application which can customize the operating system before installing it. It will configure the installation directly before installation, meaning users have to remake the ISO and reinstall it. This method is much cleaner, not to mention easier and more logical than doing it after installation. Technically, vLite is not a hacking tool and it is not functioning on any kind of hacking. All files and registry entries are protected as they would be if users install the unedited version only with the changes they select.

The latest version recently released was vLite v1.2.0 Beta. vLite needs Framework 2.0 and above to run smoothly. Users can download vLite 1.2.0 Beta via the link here.

The summary of the key features are
• hotfix, language pack and driver integration
• component removal
• unattended setup
• tweaks
• split/merge Vista installation CDs
• create ISO and burn bootable CD/DVD

Dizzler is a free streaming music and video player for your desktop. Dizzler is also available as a widget that can be embedded in your website, blog, MySpace etc and then your playlist shared with others. Dizzler gives you access to over 3 million free full length songs, of remarkable quality, as well as videos from YouTube, Internet radio and flash

In order to play music on Dizzler you will have to register and get a Dizzler account. Then you can login via the desktop player, the player widget you embedded on your site or through Dizzler's site.

Once you are logged in, you can search for literally any music you want. You can browse through the most popular searches on Dizzler, or just create a playlist of random songs. Perhaps the best addition is the Internet radio. You can browse through radio stations by genre, county or state. Then there are videos, which are basically YouTube videos and also flash games. Saving the songs to the hard disk is easy, though it isn't an option in Dizzler. Just use a download manager that monitors the the clipboard and URL for downloadable files. I use DAP. As soon as I click on a song in the desktop player it automatically captures the URL and asks me whether I want to download it. This isn't working with the embedded widget on a website though.

Dizzler adds a social touch to the media player by allowing users to share playlist with others. The Who's Online button let's you find others who are currently logged in.

Dizzler makes are great streaming media player and also a great search engine to find and download songs.

In Kaspersky Internet Security (KIS) and Kaspersky Anti-Virus (KAV) 7.0 or 2009 (version 8.0), the setup installation process will detects, scan and check for security software applications that when co-exist with Kaspersky antivirus module for concurrent functioning may slow down work of the user’s computer, or incompatible with the antivirus program installed.

Such conflict programs including, but not limited to older version Kaspersky Anti-Virus, AhnLab SpyZero and V3 VirusBlock, Aluria Security Center, ALWIL Avast, AOL AntiVirus, Ashampoo AntiVirus, Avira AntiVir, BitDefender, BullGuard AntiVirus, CA eTrust AntiVirus, Suite Personal and PestPatrol, ClamWin AntiVirus, COMODO AntiVirus and Firewall Pro, Dr.Web AntiVirus, EarthLink Protection Control Center, ESET NOD32 and Smart Security, F-Prot, F-Secure Anti-Virus, G DATA AntiVirus Kit, GriSoft AVG, Kingsoft Internet Security and AntiSpyware, Lightspeed Security Agent, McAfee SpamKiller, AntiSpyware and VirusScan, Norman Virus Control, Norton AntiVirus, Confidential and Internet Security, Panda Platinum Internet Security and WebAdmin AntiVirus, PC Tools AntiVirus, RAV AntiVirus, Rising AntiVirus, Sophos Anti-Virus, StarForce SafenSec, Steganos Internet Anonym Pro, Sunbelt Personal Firewall, Symantec AntiVirus, Symantec Norton Internet Security, Spybot Search and Destroy, Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall, TEGAM ViGUARD, Tiny Firewall Pro, Trend Micro Anti-Spyware, OfficeScan Client and PC-cillin Internet Security, Trust EZ Firewall, VirusBlokAda AntiVirus, Windows Live OneCare AntiSpyware and AntiVirus, Virus Killer, Virus Dr., ZoneAlarm IMsecure, Anti-spyware, Anti-virus, Firewall, Security Suite and Wireless Security.

When Kaspersky installer detects any of the above software programs that are marked as not-compliant and cannot be used together with Kaspersky product, the setup wizard will require user to uninstall and remove all incompatible software before installation can continue and setup terminates, and user can only cancel the installation.

However, sometimes, the detected product actually has never been installed on the system, or has been uninstalled before starting the setup, yet the Kaspersky setup keeps saying there is conflicting third-party software, despite it’s not in the system or has been deleted. To fix and resolve the problem, Kaspersky provides a workaround, or an option or switch on Kaspesky Anti-Virus 7.0/2009 and Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0/2009 to skip and bypass the scan for incompatible software during the product installation.

Follow these steps to start setup installation process for KAV 2009/7.0 or KIS 2009/7.0 skp and bypass without scanning for incompatible software:

Run the product installation as per normal (where you will double click on the downloaded setup executable).
In the Setup Wizard window, click Cancel to stop and exit from installation process.

Open Windows Explorer, and navigate to the following folder to ensure that two setup files embedded from the original installer are there - setup.exe and kav.en.msi (other language editions will have different string replacing en):
Windows XP
For Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009: \Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Kaspersky Lab Setup Files\Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009\English
For Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0: \Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Kaspersky Lab Setup Files\Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0.xxx\English
For Kaspersky Internet Security 2009: \Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Kaspersky Lab Setup Files\Kaspersky Internet Security 2009\English
For Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0: \Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Kaspersky Lab Setup Files\Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0.xxx\English

Windows Vista
For Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009: \ProgramData\Kaspersky Lab Setup Files\Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009\English
For Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0: \ProgramData\Kaspersky Lab Setup Files\Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0.x.xxx\Eglish
For Kaspersky Internet Security 2009: \ProgramData\Kaspersky Lab Setup Files\Kaspersky Internet Security 2009\English
For Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0: \ProgramData\Kaspersky Lab Setup Files\Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0.x.xxx\English

Note that by default these folders are hidden and cannot be viewed or displayed on folder listing. In order to view these folders, go to the Tools menu select Folder Options (or Organize menu select Folder and Search Options in Windows Vista). Go to the View tab and in the list enable the option Show hidden files and folders.

Open a command prompt window by typing Cmd into Start -> Run or Start Search box (in Windows Vista).

Type the full path to the setup.exe file, and append to the end the switch of /pSKIPPRODUCTCHECK=1, making the command syntax as X:\path\setup.exe /pSKIPPRODUCTCHECK=1.
For example, if you are installing Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009 under Windows XP,t hen the command will be as below:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Kaspersky Lab Setup Files\Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009\English\setup.exe /pSKIPPRODUCTCHECK=1

Press Enter to run the Setup Wizard, which will now install the Kaspersky product without any warning on incompatible software.

How to Maintain Registry..

You get a new computer fresh from the manufacturer and it's a lean, mean, computing machine. It has a hard drive, DVD player, modem, maybe a TV card, and more. It has nearly a gigabyte of software installed on it. And from the moment it was created, from the time the Windows operating system was installed, the Windows Registry became active. You might ask, "What is the Registry?" Good question.

In simple terms the Registry is the keeper of all the information in, on, or about your computer. If a program is installed it places listings in the Registry. When you download a file there are entries in the Registry. If you install a printer, a scanner, a modem, a VoIP phone, or anything else, it add things to the Registry.

The Registry is kind of like a table of contents, index, and catalog of everything about your computer. Windows can't run without the Registry. Over time, however, the Registry becomes bloated and has many useless entries. Almost like a hard drive it becomes fragmented. This slows down your computer and leads to system crashes and bad performance. Not a good situation. Fortunately for you and me there are a number of programs that are designed to clean and repair the Registry. These programs remove the junk and that helps make your computer faster again.

Registry Mechanic

Registry Mechanic, by PC Tools, is a full-featured program that cleans your Windows Registry and more. Registry Mechanic makes it easy to clean and repair the Windows Registry. It also has a feature that will optimize the Registry by compacting it. By optimizing the Registry your computer runs better and you'll have far fewer crashes.
Registry Mechanic removes the clutter from the Registry and then optimizes it. It makes backups of the Registry and you can always restore any changes that were made. One very cool feature is the Registry Monitor which can sit in your system tray and constantly monitor the Registry. Nicely done. Registry Mechanic has won many awards throughout the industry. Look for a full review of it coming soon.

Registry First Aid

Another program you might want to try is Registry First Aid. This is another award-winning program that does a great job of cleaning the Registry. It also backs up the entire Registry so you can always do a total restore if necessary. To be honest I've never had to restore the Registry because of any changes made by Registry-cleaning programs. Generally if you follow the recommendations of the program you'll be in good shape.

Registry First Aid also lets you defragment Registry which helps to remove useless entries and make the Registry more efficient. The program also lets you search the Registry which can be a very handy feature. I often use it to find entries for programs I'm trying to totally remove. If you look at the screen shot you'll notice an button for Manage Registry and that's a unique function. What it does is give you direct access, via the Registry, to certain Windows functions. For example the screen shot above is showing the programs that start automatically with Windows. Right from within Registry First Aid Platinum I can enable or disable any of these entries. So it's a handy extra feature.

RegistryBooster2 is very easy-to-use and intuitive. It also scans your system Registry and looks for errors, conflicts, and junk entries. It not only optimizes the Registry but it can also defragment it. Defragmenting the Registry increases the efficiency. It also makes your system more stable.

To create a Windows XP Live CD we will require

1. Bart PEbuilder
2. A CD burner like Nero
3. A bootable Windows XP CD and
4. Some pebuilder plugins to customize the CD.

Step 1: Download PeBuilder from here and install it. Make sure you have enough free space on the drive where you install the program. After you have finished adding all programs it will create an ISO to be burned into a disk. The size of the ISO will depend upon how many programs you add to your live CD. I would recommend atleast 700MB of free space.

Step 2: You may want to set a wallpaper that will appear on the desktop when you boot the CD. For this open the folder where you have installed PEbuilder and replace the file bartpe.bmp with the wallpaper of your choice.

Step 3: Download XPE plugin from here (direct download link). It's the GUI shell of the XP Live CD that will create the XP start button and taskbar. You are free to download as many plugin (applications) you want. Currently there are more than 500 applications to choose from. Both freewares and commercial applications are available. Antivirus programs like Kaspersky, NOD32, Avast; burning program Nero; media players like VLC; OpenOffice, Foxit PDF reader, Acrobat Reader etc are available.

Pebuilder plugins repository
More Plugins here

Step 4: After you have finished downloading all your favourite programs, open PEbuider and specify the source path to the Windows XP installation bootable CD. You can copy the CD to your hard disk and point the source to the copied file.

Step 5: Click Plugins and add all the plugins you have downloaded. Since we have added XPE, disable nu2shell and the startup group from the list of plugins.

Step 6: Specify the ISO image file and click Build. The program will integrate the plugins and create an ISO image.

Step7: Burn the image into a disk using any burning software and your live CD is ready.

Many people create a favicon which also known as a website icon, page icon or urlicon to associate it with their own webpage. It is somehow an identity or a logo representing a website. Favicon is quite popularly used nowadays. Web designers will create their preferred favicons and users can see them in the browser’s URL bar, next to the site’s name in lists of bookmarks, and next to the page’s title in a tabbed document interface. Technically to create a favicon or even an animated favicon is not that complicated and difficult. You can create your own favicon and make your webpage or blogs looks more professional and more interesting via a useful online free service, FavIcon from Pics.

FavIcon from Pics allow users to create their favicon via a very simple mechanism. What an user need to do is just log in to the website, select a picture, logo or other graphic for the “Source Image” and click “Generate FavIcon.ico” Within a few seconds, the user will get a favicon file that’s based on the selected image.
To add the favicon created to the webpage, there is instruction from the page to lead the user. In this case, the user need to:

• Click “Download FavIcon” and open the package. favicon.ico is included in it.
• Upload the favicon.ico file to the folder on the user’s web site where user has the web page.

• Add the following HTML tag to the user’s web page after the tag, before the tag:

It’s done!

To test the new favicon in Internet Explorer, the user can add his site to Favorites and reopen the page. To test it in Firefox or other Mozilla-based browser, simply open the user’s web page and watch the address bar or the page tab.

It’s a technology that let’s you print images, clipart, text and much more on LightScribe optical media such as CD-R, DVD+R and DVD-R. Let’s begin with some insight on the technology and then we shall move on to see how you can use it in different scenarios.

How it works
Step 1: The optical drive is equipped with a special kind of laser that causes a chemical reaction with the ink on the surface of the media. Hence you will need a special drive that supports the LightScribe technology.

Step 2: On the top side (label) of a LightScribe disc, there is a micro-thin coating made up of specialized ink that gets etched due to the chemical reaction eventually resulting into an image.

Step 3: LightScribe drives require a software interface, like every other hardware does. You can download the relevant software from the website—www.lightscribe.com. .

Method
By now you have a fair idea of how the LightScribe technology functions. Now we shall move on to see how to use it in various application areas.

Step 1: After installing the software you can choose different templates from various application areas. Also, there are a number of categories of templates to choose from. You can also download these templates from the website. Some of the templates are available on the CHIP DVD.

Step 2: You can choose a template without a background and simply click in the center of the template to add a picture. After adding the picture, you can also add text to support the graphics.

Step 3: LightScribe media is available in various colored surfaces—we used  golden colored media. Since the media surface contains colored ink, a low-contrast image turns out to be pretty light, hence, higher the contrast of the image, the better the print. Here’s a tip, go to the LightScribe ‘Control Panel’ and modify the contrast settings. After doing so, the time taken for printing would increase by around 45 percent, but the results will be worth the wait. Better yet, use an image editing software and manually increase the contrast levels.
You can also convert the image to grayscale to get a better result, but the picture might turn out a little grainy.

Step 4: The third screen (from top) displayed on the right is a sample bitmap file. It is a ready-to-print image (on CHIP DVD). Once printed on the media, simply make monthly backups and put a tick mark on top of the label for the pertaining month (make sure you use a standard felt tip permanent marker used for optical media). Another file is provided which can be used for daily backups.

Step 5: Currently, LightScribe only prints in black. When printing pictures; another good option would be to convert the picture to grayscale. Increase the contrast and sharpen it by around 10-20 percent.

Step 6: If you have multiple movies in DIVX format on a DVD, you can also make an index of those movies using the covers. Use an image editing software to compile the covers into a single bitmap or JPEG image and follow step 2 onwards.
